Dr. Claire Zimmerman joined Fit Naturopathic at Fit Wellness Centers to support the philosophy and mission of Andrew Simon, ND to build a sustainable center for health and wellness in the Ballard and greater Seattle community. With specialities in digestive health, autoimmune conditions, anxiety, stress management, pain management, and environmental medicine, Dr. Zimmerman has extensive training and a strong passion for botanical medicine, and loves to bring herbs into treatment plans as appropriate. She has additional advanced training in Biofeedback/Mindbody medicine, Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, and hydrotherapy.

Dr. Zimmerman teaches at Bastyr University in Kenmore, where she assists student physicians in the Department of Naturopathic Medicine for the Mind Body Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Counseling, and Physical Medicine departments. She is actively involved with Hydrotherapy and Philosophy projects with Bastyr.

Having received her bachelor’s degree from Colorado College in Biology and Anthropology. She went on to work as a field botanist for many years, leading into the study of permaculture and sustainable livelihood.

As a general medicine practitioner, she is able to treat most conditions in the state of Washington as a Naturopathic Physician. Primarily she specializes in digestive health, autoimmune conditions, anxiety, stress management, pain management, and environmental medicine. She has extensive training and a strong passion for botanical medicine, flower essences, along with advanced training in Biofeedback/Mindbody medicine, Homeopathy, Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, and hydrotherapy.
Opening her own businesses in Boulder, CO, Pixie Plots Gardening Company and Actaea Botanicals, Claire Zimmerman specialized in designing, installing and the maintenance of edible, medicinal, and xeriscape gardens. During this time she practiced as a clinical herbalist while teaching workshops and classes throughout the greater Colorado area on topics related to herbal medicine, gardening, permaculture, plant identification, and more.
Claire studied clinical herbalism at the North American Institute for Medical Herbalism under the guidance of esteemed herbalist Paul Bergner. Going on to teach field botany at the school for several years while maintaining a practice in clinical herbalism until beginning medical school. She has studied with many herbalists around the country including the completion of the herbaculture program at the Herb Pharm in Oregon. She has a deep passion and awe for ecology and natural systems. She brings her nearly 2 decade long study of ecological systems and permaculture into her approach to medicine

She utilizes the framework of Nature Cure and Vitalism in her clinical approach. In her spare time she loves to hike, rock climb, travel, and spend time with friends and family.
